I have tried to install the bit version of Office instead, but this installation fails with the same message “Microsoft Office has stopped working”. The problem applies to Access only. All other Office apps work well. This is an English only installation. It has been working correctly until a couple of weeks ago.

I haven’t installed any new applications recently. Can you tell me how can I revert to a prior version of Office? It is possible that my problem is caused by a recent update that has been made silently without my noticing it. That said, I think you are very close to a reinstall of Windows.
